Erect single narrow, channelled, fleshy leaf, often with purplish base, 14-25cm x 5-12mm, sheathing at base of stem; usually 2 sheathing stem bracts.
Erect perennial herb with fleshy egg-shaped tubers. Stem purplish. Flowers do not open readily.
4-8 deep purple flowers with darker veins, to 22mm across. Column purple to pink. A large tubular post-anther lobe, hooded with a yellow bi-lobed apex and margin thick and recurved. Column arms curved and ending in tufts of white hair.
Open forests and grassy woodlands.
