Erect single narrow tapering leaf 5-20cm x 1-4mm, sheathing at base of stem; loosely sheathing stem bracts.
Perennial herb with fleshy egg-shaped tubers. Stems are reddish, wiry and bent above sheathing bracts and leaf. Plants form massed displays, opening freely on warm days but self-pollinating.
1-3 pale yellow to cream raceme flowers, to 16mm across. Erect winged column with 4 rows of hairs on back. Column arms are reduced to small brown lumps. Post-anther lobe short, brown and slightly notched. A large yellow protruding anther.
